That was a line I heard at my table last night at Midnight Madness. MM is something the local high school puts on for kids after the prom. Last night was my fourth year as a helper. This year I dealt Texas Hold Em and BlackJack. The Black Jack was not so successful. I didn't start dealing until roughly 4am, and my math skills aren't very good even at my most alert. My table consisted of a couple that held hands the entire time, and three German exchange students. Another one of those moments when I ask myself "how did I get to this moment in my life?"
The Texas Hold Em was fun... I could seriously get addicted to the game, but I'd rather play than deal. The kids were really good. My first group of players was my church kiddos, which I love with all of my heart. Of course, there was the one girl that talked on her cell phone the entire time- seriously...the entire time she was at my table.
As for the cookie, there was a big romantic drama unfolding at my table in the midst of the poker action. Bob was apparently interested in someone, so, while it took some convincing from the other players at the table, when she finally came over, he took a break from the Hold 'Em action and went and got a cookie with her. It was good to see a guy, even if he was in high school, taking a risk for the sake of a girl. That's what's missing in my generation.
