Commotion Sunday

Er...I mean Promotion Sunday. For those that do any kind of ministry, Promotion Sunday can be hectic. For those that do preschool/children's ministry, Promotion Sunday can be chaotic. This morning fell somewhere between the two for me and my crew. Everyone knew they were in a new classroom, but no one really remembered where that classroom was. Fun all around. One of our babies summed it up nicely when she said "waaaaaaah" for 10-15 minutes.

There were some fun surprises for me, though, in my month-long quest to being more open to seeing God's surprises in my life. Our two senior (as of tomorrow) boys that play guitar for our preschool service that I teach were back. That was a treat in itself, and then, one of them starts the chords of one of my favorite songs. Then I had to go all girly teenager on them:

I was like "ohmigosh! Is that Collide? By Howie Day?" and he was like "yeah" and I was like "I love that song" and he was like "I do to!" and I was like "I have that CD" and he was like "is it good?" and I was like "yeah, I'll make you a copy!" and he was like "thanks!"

Okay, so it wasn't that bad, but it was close. It was just such a treat to hear my guys playing the song and singing, and getting to hum along. Then, in service, one of the other teenagers was playing the guitar for the worship band, and he looked like such a rock star. Definitely need to marry a guy that plays the guitar.

The coolest part of the day, aside from the sing-a-long was having so many people at our new service that I had to find a new place to sit. Even cooler was when Sam-I-Am came and sat down in front of me, and then sat beside me. She is the cutest soon-to-be sophomore there is, and the only one that can/will carry on a conversation with me in which I am able to participate. She's really a great girl. I'm very blessed to have gotten to know her better since March.

I'm off to throw in a load of laundry and go to my second home...my classroom. Tomorrow's the first day of school, and I'm scared to death.
