Trippin'

On the trip to Chicago, I didn't have computer access (on purpose), so I had to resort to the old pencil (mechanical) and paper (leather-bound journal) that is usually reserved for my innermost thoughts, to record the things that I would normally type out. Here is the account of the Insane O'Clock flight I took the way there:

"While I am typically leaving the house at this time of day, today, I am leaning against a pole in the DFW airport, trying just to stay upright. When you are finally in the airport after waiting to get through the ridiculously long security checkpoint (seriously, dude...quit making jokes and put your flippin shoes in the stupid grey container), you have one thought and one thought only on your mind: coffee, coffee, coffee. And you know you didn't get enough sleep when you realize as the person in line in front of you at the Starbucks kiosk stares at you that you are saying it out loud."

While I was sipping my white chocolate mocha comfortably at the terminal, I realized that I was surrounded by quite an odd assortment of people. The list of people I hoped weren't in seat 10E or F was growing ever-longer. The other thing that came to mind as I was waiting for boarding was the Lost Factor. Just how screwed would this plane be if Locke chose to tempt fate during our flight? Pretty much if you ask me. Aside from all of the things they have on that island that would never make it through airport security, I was wondering which of us would be the doctor and which one of us would never make it out of the ocean. It wasn't looking pretty for any of us.

The biggest plus of the airport situation was definietly at Midway, landing amidst the snow. Majestic.

Now the trip back. That was different. I loved getting to share the seat next to me with Katybug. The downside was forgetting that a snowglobe contains liquids and therefore would not be carried on. The money I saved when I got such a good deal on the flight definately came from the customer service department of ATA airlines.
