Today is my Uncle Mike's birthday. He's turning 46, but I'm not making a list of 46 things. His birthday is 11-11, so I'm making a list of 11 things I luv about my Uncle Mike:
1. My aunt is like my sister, and so he is very much like my brother. He is always there to jump in with a comment about my cooking, my sports team, or my general ability to take care of myself.
2. He let me live with them for over a year. Twice.
3. He picks out a special present every Christmas that is just for me from him. And he goes and gets it himself. And has it wrapped. (He knows when to say when.)
4. Like any big brother, he didn't like the idea of me dating. Of course, the guy was a real winner, so he ended up being right.
5. He text messages me the scores of the Gator games when he knows I can't be in front of a tv.
6. He tried to stick up for my sister when we make fun of her, but when he got to experience a good bit of it himself, he saw the light and just joined in on the teasing.
7. He's a big reader like me, and he makes me watch movies he knows I'll love, and he watches them with me. I'm now a fan of The Man From Snowy River because of him.
8. He worries about me.
9. I think he loves my dog more than he loves me. But only a little bit more.
10. He dotes on his daughters and loves them more than anything.
11. He misses me. And I miss him.
Happy Birthday Uncle Mike. I'd call you, but Dungeons and Dragons is on.
