Today is done. My little ones are on break, as am I. I am at home, in my most comfortable clothes. I've had my yummy dinner, and am about to kill my upstairs neighbor. All is well in the house. I sat down on the couch to rest a minute, and woke up an hour later when my mom called. I am already beginning the relaxing process. Even better: tonight on tv... White Christmas AND Santa Clause 2. I couldn't ask for more.
We had a very special visitor at school today. He is the grandpa of one of my students. He is the awesomest in the land. He comes and visits every classroom, and takes time to listen to all the students. He's totally a rock star in our neck of the woods.
Let's talk about my favoritest project so far this Christmas. Well, almost all of my projects this Christmas are my favoritest projects. But this one is for my best friend Mo and her little one, who will be called Mo, Jr.
I've been a little trepidatious (is that even a word) about this project. I went and bought all the supplies. Even made the stencils. And waited. And waited. Afraid to mess it all up. But I finally tried it last night, because if I was going to screw it up I needed to go back to Hobby Lobby (the mothership) and get some more supplies. I started with this:
She has two dachsunds, that have been her children for years now. I wanted to put something together for little Mo, Jr. that recognizes that. I'm actually using the process for something else, but thought I'd try it out on this. And it came out PERFECT! I'm so proud of myself and how this turned out. Look at it up close:
Here's a picture of the final product, so you can see it in all it's cuteness. It could have come from one of those fancy boutiques. But it didn't. It came from my brain! I also bought a matching blue tee for Mo that I will also imprint with the dachsund so she and Jr. can match!
As for the very special day. Today is my wedding day. Well, not today exactly, but this date. In 1878, my great-great-great-grandparents got married. And since then, the first-born has gotten married on this date. When I was planning my first wedding, I was shooting for a middle of May date, because that's pretty much what every girl graduating with her M.R.S. degree was doing, but it did secretly bother me that we weren't honoring the tradition. Good thing that one never worked out. Now, this date is mine, so 1-2-3 or more (hopefully not) years from tonight I will be marrying the man of my dreams.
Here's hoping for 1 or 2!
Things that make my world go round:
- My BFF Mo, for whom I'm making these projects this close to Christmas when I have a million other things on my plate. When I saw her today, I said "Just so you know, I'll probably be wearing this exact same outfit tomorrow night at your party." She responded with "I'll be wearing this too, unless I opt for sweats instead." Yeah, we just get each other.
- My other friend Downtown, who after the umpteenth assembly the week before Christmas suggested that teachers get paintball guns, so we can just shoot them with a paintball during the assembly when they act up and then afterwards we won't have to remember who to discipline. She's awesome!!
