Since I give up soda for Lent, I try to use this as a time to significantly decrease my caffeine intake, as it is generally not good to consume as much caffeine as I do. So, I set aside the first Saturday after Ash Wednesday as detox day, which just means that I go into the day with little expectation of getting off the couch and a high expectation of a headache. Today did not disappoint:
-Got up at 9. Took dog to groomer, ran to bank, got breakfast. Remember how much I like orange juice.
-Sat on couch (okay, slouched on couch) for close to an hour while positively captivated by Karate Kid. Wax on, wax off.
-Got off couch and cleaned out car. Dragged four armfulls of stuff to dining room table. Returned to couch. Watched more Karate Kid.
-Went to get oil changed, car washed, vacuumed, etc. Remember that side effect of caffeine withdrawl is a complete inability to make decisions. (For instance, I've gone back and forth multiple times on this post alone: to bullet-point, to not bullet-point, to asterisk, to not asterisk)
-Fall prey to "you-need-a-new-filter-and-new-brake-pads-and-and-and" guy at oil change place.
-Make the wrong choice at car wash and have to vacuum car myself. Go to vacuum place, put dollar in machine, barely vacuum anything before I wimp out because oh my good gawd it is cold outside and I hate wearing coats!
- Go back to couch. Watch part of Karate Kid, Part II, hum "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
- Go get dog from groomer.
- Go home and take a nap. A long nap.
- Visit dad. Discuss overly-dramatic sister (post to come). Watch part of The Natural. Remember how much I love that movie. Go get dinner.
- Come home, clean kitchen. Look at clock. Wonder how it got to be 7:44pm.
- Watch favorite episode of True Blood. Fold laundry.
- Type this post and wonder what I'm going to wear tomorrow. Debate just how early is too early for a single girl to go to bed on a Saturday night. Decide I don't care.
Hopefully, this one little detox day will do the trick and I can be somewhat caffeine-free for the rest of Lent. We'll see come mission trip time.
And apparently, when I'm detoxing caffeine, I ramble. A lot.
Smart to take a day to detox! I feel tired like that when I cut out sugar. Hope it's going much better now:)
