This really brings Christmas close to a person.

Aah, Christmas Break.

I don't think there's ever been or ever will be a Christmas Break free from work and free from school.
Most people get all fussy with me for working over the break, but I truly don't mind.

For me, Christmas Break is not about boycotting school, but instead, being free from the structure and responsibilities of school.

Free to stay up late, since I don't have an alarm to get me up.
Free to sleep in, since I don't have 21 4th graders waiting for me anywhere.
Free to watch Dog, the Bounty Hunter in the middle of the day because nothing else is on and I have laundry to do.
Free to go to lunch with my mom when she calls me at noon.
Free to run back home when I discover that the outfit I was wearing was not appropriate for the 75 degrees in December are you kidding me?!
Free to take a nap in the middle of the day because my body said "Hey! Let's take a nap!"
Free to wake up, realize I've been asleep for an hour, and go back to sleep without worrying if I'll be up all night.
Free to finish up the house cleaning that's been neglected for going on 4 months weeks uh...days. Yeah. 4 days.
Free to decide, at the end of the day, that absolutely no schoolwork will be done today. Without feeling guilty or pressed for time.

Free to plan out the perfect Bubbly Thursday Christmas Eve celebration.
- Finish packing
- Church with the family at 9
- Come home to a glass of wine and the movie "Love Actually" which I have yet to watch this season, and have sorely missed.

Tomorrow, on Christmas Eve, I may get some schoolwork done. I may not. Since I'll be spending some time at the family's house, I will probably need to have the work to do to keep myself occupied.

It also may snow. Thank gawd I'm not in school for that!
