I went to Mardels (as my mother calls it) this morning, to hit the teaching section looking for a literature guide I want to use in class. They play music there, and I heard a familiar tune.
There's apparently a CD out there that takes a bunch of popular songs, and changes the lyrics to make them more...I don't know...Christian-ish?
Now, changing lyrics to songs makes my skin crawl. I hate hate hate it (with the exception of "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al, because that guy's just brilliant.)
But this song perplexed me at first. Because it was a song I knew well, and I couldn't figure out where they were going with it. Until I got to the chorus. And I threw up more than just a little bit in my mouth.
They changed the lyrics to the Fountains of Wayne song "Stacey's Mom" to be "JC's Mom."
Ya'll that's just WRONG.
Update: I just googled it to check my info, and apparently, it's a parody. That's a little better, but not much. Mardel is playing a parody of "Stacey's Mom" entitled "JC's Mom". I still think it's a bit wrong...Just sayin'
ummmm....okkkaayyy. That's interesting!
ReplyDeleteand a smidge disturbing...like the clown from the movie IT, I just can't get it out of my head! I may never be the same...
