How does one actually spell "hooky"? Is it 'ie' or 'ey' or just 'y'? Things that go through a teacher's head.
It's 5:45 am. This is the time I normally wake up every day for work, give or take 15 minutes, but thanks to Blogger's scheduling post options, I'm still asleep.
See, I'm not going to work today. At this point, the kids don't know it yet. They'll be in for quite a surprise. I left them the journal question "Where do you think Miss O is and what do you think she's doing?" I wonder how many of them will accurately guess where I am.
It's Opening Day. And I'll be there. That is, after I get done tailgating with brauts and hot dogs and a wide variety of chips...
Though I'm not as avid baseball fan as I used to be (thanks to the strike), I do love Spring Baseball and October Baseball. When I was a kid, spring training was in Florida still. We were transplants from Texas, and the Rangers trained in Port Charlotte, which was a mere 1.5 hour drive from where we lived.
So, every year, on my birthday, my dad would take me out of school and we'd go to a game. It was one of the only times I ever remember he spent with me voluntarily. It's one of the reasons I'm such a sports nut. But that's another story for another time.
For now...
I'm going to root root root for the home team!
