So, Elf was on the television. That meant it was just time to pull out the Christmas and let it wreack havoc on my tiny little apartment. Last year, it didn't go so well. I was hoping this year was better.
First, I dragged everything out. I squealed with glee as I discovered all of the things I bought at Target last year for 75% off. I may have done some happy dancing. But you can't prove anything.
Then, I began the cleaning up that was required to get everything rearranged so that Christmas could explode into my living room. Should I have done this before I pulled everything out? Absolutely. But Elf was coming on and I knew it was time to act. Did I have an extreme allergy attack from the dust that has been untouched for the last eleventy billion months? Maybe...
Elf is over. Switch to The Holiday. We're on a roll now!
My dog is sleeping peacefully under the living room table. She is about to be rudely awakened by the vacuum cleaner. I am enjoying this a smidge too much...
I think my favorite part of this whole decorating process is that my apartment has changed dramatically since I did this last year, and between that and the new additions thanks to after Christmas shopping, everything is new again. I have to decide on new places to put things, new ways to use them, and new things to do altogether. It's very creative and cathartic.
And it really makes me clean my apartment.
Now, for the moment we've all been waiting for...time to put up the big tree.
Oh. Mai. GOOD GAWD. Getting the trees up is going to kill me.
The plug doesn't reach the outlet.
It doesn't look as good where I decided to put it as I thought it would.
Found a new place for it. Might work. However, when you come over to visit my place, BAM! You will be greeted by my tree ALL UP IN YOUR GRILL. Sorry. It's how we're doin' Christmas up in these parts.
At 11pm, still working on the tree. Well, actually, I'd taken a break to eat ice cream right from the container, and then get back to work.
Now, it's Saturday night, and it's 10:45, and I still haven't put ornaments on the tree, or figured out a few other decorating placements, or even uploaded the pictures I took for this post. But I've got a few other non-Christmas-related posts in my head that might need to come out, so I'm callin' it a night.
