Coincidentally, that was the exact episode of The Office this week. And several of my kiddos watched it (um....) and came in all sorts of excited on Friday, asking me if I watched The Office.
Such is my life.
I am exhausted and have family in town, so I thought I'd share some of the photos with you.
Over the course of this project, I've taken 193 pictures. I love them, and keep looking over them, because the kids are not paying attention to me at all, but watching their experiments and paying close attention to the task at hand. It's true learning.
Testing the pH levels of soda. We think Felix's was poisoned.
Testing pH levels of ice cubes. That's how Felix was poisoned.
Reading DNA results off a strand of hair found at the scene.
Testing threads found at the scene. Yes I used fire with fourth graders. Yes, I am crazy.
Using forceps (or tweezers) to hold things we will shortly light on fire.
Testing brown stain found at the scene. Pen or candy coating?
Lifting fibers and hairs on suspects' clothing.(Or my workout shirts...)
Comparing scents of suspects to towel found at the scene.
Checking cups found at the scene for fingerprints. This particular test came out inconclusive because I couldn't get the fingerprints to stick right.
When I say fire, I mean a tea light.
Believe it or not, my hand is not on fire. But it's a cool picture taken by a student.
My kids know how to make them a mess.
It's going to be hard to use the phrase "open your science books to page" now.
So I guess I'll just have to get creative again.
