I am teaching my favorite chapter in Texas History: The Alamo.
Today's lesson was about the events leading up to the Texas Declaration of Independence (and thus, the Alamo). We discussed how the Texans didn't like Santa Anna's abuse of the Mexican Constitution of 1824, and how he was placing a tax on all the goods from the US. We also covered how he threw Stephen F. Austin in jail and then sent troops to San Antonio after the defeat at Goliad, Gonzales, and San Antonio.
I passed out their worksheet, and hear this:
"Dude. Santa Anna was a real b*u*t*t*hole."
And that, my friends, is the fourth grade.
