I got myself dolled up for the evening birthday party and headed to Gladewater. The day was picture-perfect for a long drive, and with a cherry lime slushie in the cupholder, I was set.
I wore the cutest shoes, but they give one of my feet a ridiculous blister, so I regretted that decision shortly after I got out of the city limits.
I stopped halfway to go to the bathroom at an outlet mall, and while I was prepared to pass up the Old Navy and Gap outlets, I was unable to resist the draw from the Crocs outlet. I got a great deal on two pair of crocs, and I rationalized it by the fact that I would need one of the pair later for my aching feet.
An hour and a half on the road later, I slid into town a full two hours pre-party with one thing in mind: antique shopping. I went in some delightful shops, though didn't buy anything. As I was perusing one shop, singing along to the Cure that was on the radio, I spotted this display.
This is a display of all the toys I remember having as a child. It was so delightful. It was just a moment.
After the antique shopping portion of the day, I met up with my parents and we went here. The best barbecue in the east, if you ask me. We were meeting for a surprise party for my uncle. We had a great dinner celebrating his life, before his death.
And, last but not least, a family picture. Shortly after this was taken, Mom and I headed back to town. Two hours in the car with my mother trying to convince me to try out for Wheel of Fortune. Awesome.
good picture! Wheel of fortune???
ReplyDeleteI'm with mom. I would totally like to see you on "Wheel." Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteJen, you looks so beautiful in that picture! I realize looking at it that I miss seeing your face in "real life!" How long has it been since we've seen each other....um, 10 years????
