I'm not in Guatemala this week. I have my reasons, which I may share later.
However, even though I don't start school officially until the 16th, I typically get it going around the first. This year, I waited until the second. While I got some new books at the big sale in July, I finally got them open last night. I went in this morning for the sole purpose of using the paper cutter. For over an hour. (True to form, I had a picture but my computer aparently also knows school is coming soon so it quit recognizing my camera card.)
Other beginning of August activities:
- Went into the classroom. Sort of. I was going to look at painting it a lovely orange color, but since I won't be able to enter it until next week, the painting plans are on hold indefinitely. Which I'm okay with. And since I can't get into my classroom, I can't go and spend hours there. Until next week, when I have to put the classroom together. Bring.It.On.
- Put together some things at home. Posters to be made, things to be laminated. The Mom and The Sister don't know it, but one day next weekend, I'm going to give them each a pair of scissors and pop in a DVD and we're going to all cut out the 87,334,924,394,000 things I've got to laminate to use in the new math program I'm starting.
- Set up email folders. All summer long I'd kept my email inbox down to single-digits, which is a summer pleasure in itself. Today, it's already up to 20. So I've got to reorganize the folders and purge the old things. This always takes me for.ever.
- Look at the school supply list. Apparently, the teachers I work with changed it and didn't tell me. The changes are good ones that I wanted. But I wish they'd have told me. Before I'd already gone out and bought 24 composition books and was planning on getting 25 more. Luckily I got them at a quarter apiece so I'm only out $6. And I'm sure I'll need them.
Speaking of supply shopping, I get to take two different kids shopping for their supplies this week. And one of the kids we're also going to go for his sister. I'm. so. excited. Office and school supplies are to me like shoes for other women. I love shopping for them and love finding them!
I love school supplies, too...and I love the tax free days here in Fl, so I'm waiting until the 13th & 14th to go get some! LOL! I usually go in once every week or so during the summer to get things organized in my room before school starts, but I didn't get the chance this year. So, I'm nervous what I'm coming back to. Plus, I have to plan for a sub for 12 weeks, which is going to be SUPER stressful...Yikes...this explains why my nightmares are starting early!!! Have fun taking the kiddies shopping! Do you know your roll, yet? I've still yet to get mine...
