Love, Sweet Love

Valentine's Day is never lonely when you're a teacher. I got so many goodies today, I don't even know where to begin! The best part of today, though, was a writing prompt I stole from Mo. My kids HATED writing it, but it was pretty flipping funny, so I have to share.

They had to choose from one of three sentences to finish. Their choices were:
When people are in love they...
I know somebody loves me when...
I know I'm in love when...

Here are a few that made me laugh, and in one case, swoon...

"I know somebody loves me when they stare at me. Ask you out to dinner. Also, sometimes ask you to marry you not all the time do they ask you to marry them because it takes a lot of work."

"When people are in love that look at each other a ton. When people are in love they get flowers for each other. They take walks together in the park. They kiss grose. That’s what people do when their in love."

"When people are in love they kiss and hug and go somewhere to eat. They go to a romantic place. They will have fun."

"When people are in love, they kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss and so on and so on. Until they get married."

"I know somebody love me when they blurt it out like ------. And they love each other very much."(name withheld to protect the innocent)

"When people are in love, they kiss. And they sometimes go on a cruise."

"When people are in love they kiss. When they are also in love they hug. They go where they want to eat. They go to the store. They go where the girl likes. Then they go where the boy likes. The boy says to the girl will you marry me."

"When people get in love they kiss. They are stupid." (clearly not a romantic…)

And my favorite...the swoonable one:

"I know somebody loves me when they say hi in a soft way. Also then they kiss me on the cheek. I know they like me when they tell you they like you."

Have a very loved Valentine’s Day!

  1. These are hysterically funny.

I hardly know you, but I pretty much think you're an incredible teacher and would want my kid in your class.

  2. Even funnier were the illustrations! The cruise writing had a picture of about seven people rowing a canoe...apparently she's never been on a real cruise.

And the first one about marriage being a lot of work was the funniest of all. It has a title at the top that said "Happy Marage Day" and shows a bride, a groom, and a jilted bridesmaid! The speech bubble above the jilted bridesmaid says "hay! what about me?!" It's from a kid who doesn't usually display that kind of sense of humor, so it's absolutely priceless!!!
