I know why your feet are cold.

Your feet are cold because hell may have possibly frozen over.
Or the apocalypse is upon us.

Because, my sister and I?
We're friends now.
We even had dinner tonight.

Once upon a time, basically since birth, I have not liked her...well, really at all.

Everyone told me that once we got older the eleven year age difference wouldn't matter as much, and we'd get along. I felt certain as I turned 33 and she turned 22 that they were all wrong.

But now, all of a sudden, we're friends. We had dinner together tonight, and I didn't want to smack her, hurl my fried rice after her, or even really mock her. And I totally had the opportunity when I asked her what her presentation on Friday was over and she said "pleated pants versus flat front pants."

Because even she understands the absurdity of it.

The BFF called me today, to tell me a story of her sister. She and her sister are far apart in age as well, and her sister is much like mine has been up until now. She said she had another entry in the "my sister's crazier than yours" contest, and for a moment I was a little jealous because I don't think I will have any more entries.

Are we going to start planning slumber parties and stay up all night giggling and braiding each other's hair? No.

Will I ever like her more than The Aunt (or most of my close friends)?
No.

But I no longer have this insane urge to mock her and make fun of her all time.

Maybe we're both growing up.

Nah.

P.S. Let me tell you about the start of our dinner. I got there before she, and told the host that I was waiting for someone. When she got there and I told him we were ready to be seated, he said "Oh. This is who you were waiting for? I thought you'd be waiting for a boyfriend."

Thanks, buddy.
Go get me a juicebox.
